Daksinga: Art Fusion (Generative Art & A.I. Art)
Rithm Art's Art on Avax: Mona Lisa Initiative Avaissance Acquisitions
The Rithm Art Collective is really excited about being patrons of Daksinga’s work. Daksinga has been an active participant in the Avalanche Art Culture and has been doing his part to reflect the interplay of various domains such as ideas, techniques, emotions and skills. Based in Nigeria, Daksinga’s portfolio includes an eclectic range of AI pieces that span from afro-futuristic portraits to abstract images. These works often provide an aesthetic beauty that is underpinned by a rich story or narrative. These stories need to be told when it comes to algorithmic art and Daksinga’s art is one such example. In the past year, the development of A.I. art has resulted in an explosion of content, but Daksinga represents the small group of artists in the space looking to push things forward. One such example is Daksinga’s Art Fusion collection which was launched in early 2023.
Aesthetically these are very interesting abstract 3D pieces with majority of the collection seeming to play with the colors of white, yellow and black. The primary shapes are often squares and circles, however there permutations that creates alternative shapes. There is a lovely depth to many of the pieces and creates a feeling motion. Looking at the pieces provides a sight for the eyes, but understanding the Daksinga’s process and perspective really deepens the significance of this work even beyond the way it stands out aesthetically. He notes several inspirations for his work such as
, who introduced him to : Fidenza, and , the creative force behind Factory Avax , who shaped Daksinga's journey into generative art. Their influence led him to the surprising revelation of creating art through code, prompting him to experiment with different code-based techniques such as flow fields, k-means clustering, and Perlin noise. One of the most intriguing aspects of Daksinga's work for this collection is the use of p5.js (a JavaScript library for artists, designers, and educators) to provide the foundation for his reworking of the image with . To Daksinga, creating art with these tools is akin to performing alchemical transmutations. His artworks echo the idea of equivalent exchange found in the popular anime Fullmetal Alchemist, where the science of alchemy revolves around understanding, deconstructing, and reconstructing matter.
Daksinga's artistic alchemy starts with raw elements such as lines of code or pixels, which he then shapes into something meaningful and captivating. He considers the entire process an exploration of the human spirit, where the fusion of technical skills and creative expression unfolds into the final artwork.
The exploration did not stop there. Daksinga further pushed the boundaries by reworking these artworks in Midjourney. This process, much like the concept of 'remixing,' brought forth unexpected dimensions, captivating aesthetics, and new visual narratives. The fusion of p5.js with the transformative power of Midjourney added a fresh breath of life to his artwork.
Daksinga’s Art Fusion Collection features 55 pieces, each of which is meticulously crafted and brought to life through the interplay of p5.js and Midjourney. These artworks serve as stepping stones in Daksinga’s creative exploration. Daksinga's exploration of generative art is just one example of how artists are leveraging technology to create unique forms of artistic expression. However, it serves as a powerful testament and milestone to the transformative power of code in the realm of art. While, these pieces are curated off-chain and the original code is not currently publicly available, the drafts provided create a clear demonstration of the direction. We hope to see some on-chain components and verifiability in the future, similar to the Abominable Sasquatch work with the Workshop which used Jared Tarbell’s Substrate for the training sets.
With the milestone nature of this work, a selection of Daksinga’s Art Fusion collection finds a new home with us. Excited about the innovation Daksinga brings to the space, we have acquired 24 pieces from this mesmerizing collection. These pieces not only reflect the fusion of generative code and AI art but also exhibit the potential of a verifiable creative process leading to the final output.
This acquisition paves the way for us to use these works as part of our future exhibition. As a celebration of artistic innovation and the transformative power of code, we eagerly anticipate sharing Daksinga’s captivating works with the broader community.
For those interested in experiencing Daksinga’s Art Fusion first-hand, you can find the remaining pieces available on Campfire. This digital collection presents an incredible opportunity for art enthusiasts to own a piece of generative and A.I. art history.
Join us in celebrating the mastery of Daksinga and the innovative realm of generative art. Whether you are an artist, a coder, or an art lover, Daksinga’s Art Fusion is a stunning testament to the limitless possibilities when art and technology collide.
