Rithm Art's Art on Avax: Mona Lisa Initiative Avaissance Acquisitions
The Rithm Art Collective, as part of the inaugural cohort of the Mona Lisa Initiative under the Art on Avax Avaiassance, continues to support artists and collections within the ecosystem through strategic acquisitions. As a DAO, our focus is on algorithmic art. Our recent acquisitions from multi-disciplinary artist 0xFounderWill's Fine Art Movement Collection are prime examples of this focus which heavily used A.I. tooling.
In this post, we'll take a closer look at the individual pieces we've added to our collection and the unique narratives they tell.
Untitled #56 from Fine Art Movement 1
This GIF-style A.I. piece is a captivating visual story. A bloodied man stands bare-chested, knife in hand. The vivid color palette and the repetitive iterations of the image draw the eye directly to the figure and his weapon. Despite early A.I. tool distortions, the blood and color usage minimizes these distortions' impact. It makes us question the origin of his wounds - are they self-inflicted or caused by others? This piece is a thought-provoking start to our collection.
Untitled #59 from Fine Art Movement 1
The next piece is another GIF-style A.I. artwork, featuring a dark-skinned man in a suit, sitting on a bench. Next to him, a skull on the bench's backrest flickers with a large flame. The man's forehead carries what appears to be an egg or wax. The somber mood set by the dark hues, faintly visible trees, and the gif's cycle, which creates a rain-like feeling, contributes to the intensity of this artwork.
Art2 No7 from Fine Art Movement 2
Shifting to Fine Art Movement 2, we see more scenes exploring various red shades. Art2 No7 was an exciting acquisition. The piece features a power couple, Sol Raff and Lashandra Dilliner, waiting for their picture to be taken. They're a testament to strength, resilience, and the success that comes with relentless determination. This piece encapsulates their aura and speaks volumes about their partnership.
Art2 No9 from Fine Art Movement 2
Joan Mette is the subject of Art2 No9. She's a passionate artist, showcasing her dedicated craft in her home studio (although the setting suggests otherwise). The presence of a man in the background contrasts with Joan's expectancy. The blending objects and varying shadow directions give a sense of multiple light sources, further enhancing the piece's depth.
Art2 No6 from Fine Art Movement 2
Art2 No6 is a deeply emotional piece, depicting Omar Mainey and Zana Kaspari in a diner, each lost in their thoughts about their strained relationship. Zana seems to be looking at Omar as he stares off into space, creating a poignant scene of reflection and uncertainty.
Art2 No5 from Fine Art Movement 2
The final piece is Art2 No5, featuring Gay Whitebear, a Native American woman known for her adventurous spirit and love for her culture. Despite being of Indigenous American heritage, the Chinese-like setting adds an interesting layer to the cultural narrative. Gay's red dress is a masterpiece and a standout element of the portrait.
